Mastercard and the Medical Tourism Association join forces to revolutionize cross-border healthcare payments →

Over the past month, the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) has been honored to participate in several high-level global forums, summits, and industry events that continue to shape the future of international healthcare. From Washington, D.C. to Miami, São Paulo, and the USCIPP Annual Meeting, the MTA has been proudly representing the medical tourism industry, advancing international collaboration, and sharing insights on the rapidly evolving global patient landscape.

These engagements—some attended by our leadership team and others featuring keynote participation from our CEO and Co-founder, Jonathan Edelheit—underscore our commitment to driving innovation, partnership, and growth across the global healthcare ecosystem.

Advancing International Collaboration at the U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum

MTA was honored to participate in the U.S.–Saudi Investment Forum in Washington, D.C., joining global leaders, policymakers, and innovators in discussing the future of investment, technological advancement, and bilateral cooperation between the United States and Saudi Arabia.

Representing the medical tourism sector, Jonathan Edelheit highlighted how medical travel, healthcare innovation, and patient-centric models are becoming essential pillars of global economic development. He connected with leaders across healthcare, AI, and finance to explore new ways to strengthen the international health ecosystem through collaboration, workforce development, and improved patient experience.

The forum reinforced a central truth: international partnership is foundational to advancing healthcare access and impact worldwide.

Jonathan Edelheit and Renee-Marie Stephano of Global Healthcare Accreditation met with H.E. Dr. Majid Ibrahim Al-Fayyadh, CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Centre, to discuss  advancing international patient experience initiatives. The meeting reflects the shared commitment to elevating excellence across Saudi Arabia’s leading healthcare institutions.

Shaping the Future of Patient Pathways at the USCIPP Annual Meeting

At the USCIPP Annual Meeting, Jonathan Edelheit spoke on a distinguished panel titled “Innovative Pathways for Global Patient Care: Partnering Beyond the Hospital.” The session examined how global patient care is shifting beyond traditional referral models, driven by digital platforms, modern payment systems, and new forms of collaboration between hospitals and non-hospital partners.

Jonathan joined an esteemed group of industry leaders:

Heitham Hassoun, MD – Chief Executive, Cedars-Sinai International

Jason Dinerman – VP, Product Development, Global Healthcare, Mastercard

Together, they explored how organizations can work across sectors to reach and support international patients more effectively. The conversation highlighted a shared vision for a more integrated, adaptive, and accessible global patient journey.

Driving Innovation in Cross-Border Payments at Mastercard’s Synergy in Motion Event

The MTA was also proud to attend Synergy in Motion, an exclusive innovation forum hosted in Miami by our valued partner, Mastercard. The event convened leaders shaping the future of cross-border payments—an increasingly vital component of international healthcare.

As Better by MTA, in partnership with Mastercard, continues to lead the industry with the first and only medical tourism platform enabling seamless cross-border payments, this event offered an opportunity to explore how emerging technologies can improve patient experience, streamline provider operations, and expand access to global care.

Discussions at Synergy in Motion reinforced the potential for even deeper collaboration as we work to elevate standards and build a more efficient, secure global medical travel ecosystem.

Supporting Brazil’s Growth in International Healthcare at the Brazil International Health Tourism Summit & Expo

MTA’s leadership was honored to speak at the Brazil International Health Tourism Summit & Expo, where Jonathan Edelheit delivered a keynote on the global outlook for international patient acquisition and the opportunities ahead for Brazil.

Jonathan emphasized Brazil’s strong potential to grow as a leading medical destination, outlining strategies for hospitals to increase global visibility, strengthen patient experience, and build sustainable international programs.

The summit marked a significant milestone in MTA’s expanding collaboration with Brazilian hospitals, government authorities, and industry partners. The momentum generated reinforces Brazil’s rising role in the global healthcare market—and MTA’s commitment to supporting its continued growth.

A Month of Global Progress—and a Vision for the Future

The Medical Tourism Association’s participation in these diverse and influential events reflects our mission to advance global healthcare access, foster cross-border collaboration, and support countries and providers in building world-class international patient programs.

As we continue engaging with governments, industry leaders, technology innovators, and healthcare executives worldwide, MTA remains committed to shaping the future of medical travel—one partnership, one innovation, and one global connection at a time.
